Description
OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE ECLAIREURS DE LA GARDE IMPERIALE, the silver-plated brass frame, the German-style single-branch guard decorated with a chased snake and centred on a bar engraved with a six-pointed star, the curved quillon, the short-tailed cap in melon ribs decorated with acanthus leaves at the end, The wood-cased scabbard is sheathed in leather and adorned with three silver-plated brass fittings and reinforcing braces with two brackets, the whole finished with an asymmetrical sting. First Empire period, probably 1st or 3rd Regiment des éclaireurs de la Garde, circa 1813-1815. Blade length: 82 cm. Total length (with scabbard): 99 cm. Wear, wear to silver plating, scabbard leather missing, silver fluted strap.
