Pair of grey porcelain elephants, heads turned backwards, harnessed and caparisoned
of a canopy decorated with a horse emerging from the waves on a yellow background under sound stones and
of pearls.

The elephant is a symbol of strength, wisdom and stability.
Its name, xiang (?), evokes the idea of a good omen (xiang ?). The vase, ping,
refers to peace and harmony (pin?). Together, the elephant carrying a vase expresses
wish for lasting peace and prosperous order.
This motif is often associated with the phrase taiping youxiang, "great peace is present". He
