Figurative cork press known as ‘LE MOLOSSE’ A rare dog-shaped model. Decorated bronze cork press with a golden patina, designed to rest on a table, suitable for 4 sizes of cork. France. Late 19th century. Model featured in the book by BULL & PARADI, *Wine Antiques & Collectibles*. Cork presses – for use in pharmacies or laboratories. These objects were used to compress corks that had been previously scalded in order to reduce their size and facilitate their insertion into bottles. They were particularly indispensable in chemists’ shops and were intended to impress, both through their weight and their mechanism or decoration.
