Félix DUMAS (19th–20th century). Pierre Aguétant, poet A unique plaster piece with a bronze-effect patina, signed H. 55 cm – W. 51 cm – D. 22 cm Minor chips Note: A unique piece exhibited at the Salon in 1924. Born in Lyon, Félix Dumas (1853–1912) was an academic sculptor trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in his hometown under the tutelage of Joseph-Hugues Fabisch, before continuing his apprenticeship in Paris with François Jouffroy and Gabriel-Jules Thomas. A regular exhibitor at the Salon de Lyon and the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, he distinguished himself through his realistic and meticulous artistry, producing mainly busts of local dignitaries and clergy, allegorical or religious statues for buildings in the region, as well as funerary monuments for the Lyon cemeteries of Loyasse and La Guillotière.
