A CARTEL of undulating form, crafted in so-called ‘Boulle’ marquetry of tortoiseshell and brass, decorated with gilded bronze rocaille motifs, a shattered shell and acanthus leaves, and resting on volute feet. The dial features twenty-five enamelled cartouches, the central one signed ‘BRULFER’ in Paris. Cut steel hands, with a brocot suspension. The console is probably a later addition, made of wood painted to imitate tortoiseshell and cut brass, decorated with gilt bronze mascarons. Key and sun-shaped balance wheel.
