A significant tapestry from the Felletin Manufactory
In the Creuse region, near Aubusson
Made of wool and silk
A beautiful, large ‘Verdure’ tapestry featuring wading birds and an architectural landscape, decorated with lush forest vegetation, finely rendered watercourses and a bridge.
And, on the left, in the background and rendered in perspective, a castle.
Original border featuring military trophies: breastplates, firearms, quivers, drums, standards and musical instruments, interwoven with flowers, ribbons and drapery.
Late 17th–early 18th centuries
284 cm high x 437 cm wide
Routine restoration work; some oxidation and wear.
