Description
Portico clock in white marble, black marble and chased and gilded bronze with four columns, two of which are flattened and preceded by two columns formed of women's heads, busts and feet, the whole crowned by two sphinxes framing a pediment decorated in relief with branches of laurel in bloom. The rectangular base is underlined by friezes of applied pearls and rests on four circular feet. The enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and a railway track bears the inscription "A PARIS" and is embellished with an apron stylising an openwork drape with mascaron, palmettes and animal motifs. Mechanical movement with key winding, wire suspension, star-shaped count wheel. Empire period H. 44 - W. 27 - D. 11.5 cm Missing pendulum and key, chips to winding holes, missing bas-relief, pearl frieze, chips to marble, wear to gilding.
