L.A.S. S.l., 14 Floréal year 12. 1 p. in-12. About Benjamin Franklin's Gazette, which carries "the list of letters remaining at the Philadelphia Post Office", unlike France, which burns them. He proposes to do the same thing; COLLET, Abbé. L.A.S. to Count Mathieu de Montmorency, at the Hôtel de Luynes. Compiègne, 31 July 1815. 3 pp. in-4. He claims accommodation from M. de Lancry, mayor of the town and argues for his long and loyal services, those of his mother (who was concierge of the château of Compiègne for thirty years), he mentions a memorandum which his correspondent read before the King, mentions the rule of exemption of the clergy from the right of accommodation, etc; D'ARNAULT, Ambroisine. On the subject of the system of international exchanges with "the new world", he mentions New York libraries, the advantages of having an American industrial agent in France, etc. Interesting; MORELLET, André Morellet (1727-1819), French writer and encyclopaedist. Long L.A.S. addressed to the bookseller Merlin. Postmarked 2 April 1806. 3 pp. in-4. Small chips. Long letter on his work La Chézonomie ou l'Art, which Merlin published the same year 1806. On the letterhead of the Imperial Library. Receipt for two works by Charles Rémard entitled: La Chézonomie ou l'Art de Ch. Poëme didactique en 4 chants; TALHOUET DE BRIGNAC, abbé, aumônier du Roi. L.A.S. addressed to Patrice Gabriel Bernard de Montessus, comte de RULLY, pair de France. 10 May 1829. Beautiful account of his trip to Naples. He describes the wonders that he admired there, for the first time, Pompei, the reliefs of antiquity etc.. Brignac evokes the duc de Blacas, the cardinal de Latif, etc; TASCHER DE LA PAGERIE, Charles Joseph Louis Robert Philippe (1811-1869). L.A.S. Tuileries, 19 March 1854.
