André-César VERMARE, also known as André VERMARE, was a sculptor born in Lyon. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon and Paris, he was awarded the First Prix de Rome in 1899. He stayed at the Villa Médicis in Rome from 1900 to 1903. His most famous work was "Le Rhône et la Saône", a sculpture placed in front of the Palais de la Bourse in Lyon.
