Description
Anna de NOAILLES countess, née de Brancovan (1876-1933) - French poet and novelist of Romanian origin, a great friend of Jean Cocteau. L.a.s. "Anna de Noailles" in crossed over text, at the top of the first page, and dated (Paris) 19 September (1928), 4 pp. half folio, Italian format. Long letter addressed to the Forézian poet and literary critic Jean TENANT, who had just informed her of the remarriage of her friend Pierre MESSIAEN, as she was preparing to publish an article on the death of Cécile SAUVAGE, who died in August 1927: "Dear Cécile, our friend, with her perfect hand unites living hands and will protect the faithful and poetic home. Tell your friend that I am thinking of this noble and pure continuity... ". In her letter she also mentions other painful deaths, including those of : "All those men who made up my life and who loved me beyond words". Attached is a letter from Jean TENANT, dated June 1938, giving the reasons for putting it up for sale. Expert : Mario Mordente
