Henri Ernest PONTHIER DE CHAMAILLARD (1862-1930) View of a village with a church in the Aven valley. Oil on canvas. 120.5 x 84 cm A letter from Madame Catherine Puget, former Curator of the Musée de Pont-Aven, addressed to the owner of the painting and dated 13 September 2015, attributes this canvas to the painter Ponthier de Chamaillard and links it to the one owned by the Museum. On the front of the canvas is a portrait of a fisherman, painted by the painter Ch. Lamour and dated 1893. This dates the painting from 1892. Chamaillard, says Madame Puget, "lived in Pont-Aven with his fiancée, Louise Lamour, in a studio he shared with Emile Bernard in the house of the post office clerk".
