Surroundings of Antoine-Joseph Salamon (1810-1850), South of France, 19th century A crusader knight Terracotta bust Engraved with the monogram A I on the back of his helmet; old restorations H. 77 cm (30 ¼ in.) A Southern French terracotta bust depicting a crossed knight, circle of Antoine-Joseph Salamon (1810-1850), 19th century Salamon's formation remains unknown. He appears for the first time in the report on the Toulouse Beaux-Arts exhibition of 1835, where his Adam and Eve group was severely criticised. Only his Tête de jeune Française was favourably received and won him a bronze medal. That same year, he took part, with Auguste Virebent and under the direction of Alexandre Dumège, in the restoration of the small cloister of the Musée des Augustins, where casts and statues inspired in particular by Biron's tomb were installed.
