PERIOD RESTORATION BASKET Attributed to Jean-François Denière (1774 - 1866) In chased and gilt bronze, the openwork basket decorated with lotus leaves and a frieze of flowers au naturel, supported by two kneeling putti retracting an arch, the oval base resting on claw feet; formerly part of a table centrepiece H. 29 cm (11 ½ in.) l. 29 cm (11 ½ in.) P. 18 cm (7 in.) A Restauration gilt-bronze basket, attributed to Jean-François Denière (1774 - 1866) The motif of a kneeling Love holding a bow can be found in the work of the bronzemaker Jean-François Denière (1774-1866). In 1829, he supplied two bowls with an identical putto on the shaft for the Ministry of the Navy, for the sum of 14,100 francs (see J.J. Gauthier, N.
