Alexandre Descatoire (1874-1949) was a French sculptor born in Douai. A professor at the École des Beaux-Arts and member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (elected in 1939), he was notably responsible for La Jeunesse, a gilded statue created for the 1937 Universal Exhibition, now installed opposite the Eiffel Tower.
