A Regence giltwood console, in the taste of Jules Degoullons
The design and proportions of this console are reminiscent of the works of the Société pour les Bâtiments du Roi, directed by Jules Degoullons, in the structure of the uprights, the movement and the finesse of the belt. Around 1713, the same principle was used on a console by Degoullons and his workshop for the Château de Bercy, now in the Louvre (cf. B. Pallot, Le Mobilier du Musée du Louvre, Éditions Faton, Vol. II, Paris, 1993, p. 40, n. 7).
