SÈVRES SOFT-PASTE PORCELAIN ICE CUP, CIRCA 1774 Polychrome decoration of a bouquet of flowers in a reserve surrounded by palms and a garland of gold foliage on a pink background Marked : LL interlaced, no date letter, mark of the painter Bertrand and marks of the decorators Théodore Buteux and Michel-Barnabé Chauvaux H. 56.5 cm (22 ¼ in.) A soft-paste Sevres porcelain ice-cream cup, circa 1774, the painting by Bertrand, the gilding by Theodore Buteux and Michel-Barnabe Chauvaux Although undated, this ice-cream cup probably comes from the service delivered to the jeweller Jacques Dumoulin in 1774. This service included 24 ice cups at 18 livres each. For three ice cups from this service, see the Tajan sale, Paris, 28 November 2001, lot 103 (cfr. D. Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, 2015, pp. 525-527, no. 74-6).
