Description
JAPAN, late 19th century. Two Shinshinto Wakizashi sabres. A Japanese sabre from the EDO period (1603–1868). Unsigned (mumei). Blade (sugata): iori mune, shinogi zukuri. Tang (nakago): ubu keitai, higaki yasurime. Tang with one mekugi ana, kengyo nakagojiri. Length (nagasa): 51 cm. Kizu, damage to the kissaki, blunt. Black lacquer scabbard (missing sections, chips) and another from the MEIJI period (1868–1912). Unsigned (mumei). Blade (sugata): iori mune, shobu zukuri. Nakago: suriage keitai, sujikai yasurime. Nakago pierced with two mekugi ana. Length (nagasa): 49 cm. Kizu, scratches. Saya in gold nashji lacquer (missing sections, chips)
