Louis HOLWECK (1861–1935) Condemned Vestal Virgin. Patinated terracotta. H.: 23 cm. Minor losses and damage; restoration to the plinth. Provenance: From the artist’s family, by bequest. Note: Louis Holweck is best known for creating a monument in honour of the writer Bernardin de Saint-Pierre and his novel *Paul and Virginie*, erected in 1907 at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.
