Armand GUILLAUMIN (1891–1955) Painter’s palette Oil on a wooden palette bearing the inscription ‘Palette de Guillaumin’ in ink in the bottom right-hand corner 33.5 x 49 cm This palette belonged to Eugène Alluaud, a painter from Crozant like Armand Guillaumin, whom he often invited to La Rocca, his house in the village. Many of Guillaumin’s paintings were created on the terrace overlooking the River Creuse, with a view of Puy Bariou. Eugène Alluaud provided a detailed description of how Armand Guillaumin mixed his colours on the palette depending on the type of painting he wished to create.
