Description
Gilt brass folding money balance with engraved inscription Jecker à Paris; in its wooden case. Late 18th century Length: 14.5 cm (minor accidents) This scientific instrument is a flail-type monetary balance. It was made around 1795 by François-Antoine Jecker, a famous inventor of precision instruments. After training in Besançon and London, he opened his workshop in Paris in 1792. Thanks to their high level of precision, these scales were a great success.
