Figurative inkwell, Iran qâjâr, early 20th century
A globular inkwell with a hinged lid and bulbous handle, resting on a small circular concave tray with a truncated cone-shaped base. Copper alloy with engraved decoration of compartments filled with hares on the lid, medallions with characters, animals or fantastic creatures on the receptacle and on the tray bordered with friezes of bifid palmettes.
