An amusing trompe l'oeil porcelain wall vase taking the form of a pipa hidden in a knotted bag, the whole painted in polychrome enamels, the bag decorated with floral scrolls on a yellow background, the handle of the pipa decorated in iron red and surmounted by an element taking the form of a ruyi sceptre. The back is turquoise enamelled with black lines imitating cracks. An apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark stamped on the back.
