Description
Sèvres porcelain plate, with a scalloped rim; the centre features a design on a black background with gold floral reserves, cherubs, musical instruments and quivers. The central polychrome design depicts the allegory of Hercules spinning a spindle at the feet of Omphale beneath a palm tree. Putti and a flowerbed complete the design. On the reverse: black mark for glazed pieces from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, 1925 DA (hard paste); manufacturer’s mark from 1928 to 1940 in black, known as ‘à la rose’, and the date letter ‘h’ for 1935; CF monogram mark (Clément FREYSSINGES, decorator 1922–1949, then deputy head of decorators in 1949) after Beaumont (Jean Georges Beaumont 1895–1978, painter and decorator, active at the Sèvres Manufactory between 1925 and 1942). Diameter 25 cm. In perfect condition in its original box.
