Description
Silver mustard pot stand, bearing a rooster hallmark (1st standard) and the Paris medium hallmark (1809–1819); on the underside of the stand is a large departmental hallmark (Bordeaux, 16 August to 16 November 1819) and a hallmark of the Paris Goldsmiths’ Guild (1793–) engraved beneath the lid, M.O D. GARREAU (1817–). Decorated with palmettes, an openwork gallery and cherubs holding a torch whilst straddling dogs. Lid rim in the shape of a pine cone. Handle chiselled with mistletoe motifs. With a later glass insert. Height: approx. 10 cm. Weight: 102.5 g.
