(Small tear at top left as well as stains and foxing, folds, stuck at the four corners)
Provenance :
Collection of General Bro; appears on a draft division on the death of Baroness Olivier Bro in 1908: "folio 37 of the purple album. Géricault croquis Guill. le Conquérant sur son lit de parade 10 francs"; shown at the Centenary Exhibition in 1924 as on loan from Mme Aylies, the general's granddaughter, and at the Winterthur Exhibition in 1953 as belonging to a private collection.

This would have been produced for Charles Nodiez's "Voyages pittoresques", intended for Volume II on Normandy (1823). From Voyages pittoresques et romantiques de l'ancienne France, 1820-1878. A copy of this engraving is in the Musée Condée at the Château de Chantilly.
