Max Bill Ulmer Stool (“Ulmer Hocker”) Stool Edition: HfG Ulm Date of creation: circa 1970 H39.5 W29.5 D44 cm A rare and authentic example of the iconic Ulmer Stool, coming directly from the family collection of Otl Aicher in Rotis. This piece was produced at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm (HfG Ulm), the influential design school founded in the post-war period and closely associated with Aicher’s work and teaching. Otl Aicher (1922–1991) is one of the most important figures in post-war German design. As co-founder and driving force behind the HfG Ulm, he helped define a new design culture based on clarity, rational structure and democratic values. Internationally, he is best known for creating the revolutionary visual identity for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, as well as corporate identities for Lufthansa, ZDF, major banks and public institutions. His work remains a cornerstone of modern visual communication.
