Description
Guillaume Colas, Charles de Dainville, Dominique Savin, Mathieu Baron The Chair LEGACY Series Solid ash and walnut, brushed and varnished wood finishes Limited edition, signed and numbered JAUH edition, manufactured in Deux-Sèvres, France H90 W38 D35 cm, Seat height 45 cm 8.98 kg. JAÙH, pronounced ‘jo’, meaning ‘rooster’ in Poitevin dialect, is a contemporary artisanal furniture design studio founded by two former classmates from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris: Henri Danzin, a seasoned entrepreneur with twenty years’ experience in consultancy and technology, and Charles de Dainville, a furniture designer and scenographer, and the company’s artistic director. To design their collections, they bring together designers and cabinetmakers for five-day “design sprints” in their home region of Deux-Sèvres, crafting the grammar and vocabulary of a collection through the grain of the wood. At JAÙH, artisanal design is not an aesthetic or a style: it is a philosophy. The pieces are crafted from 100% French solid wood, assembled using traditional techniques, produced in very small numbered series, and built to be passed down through the generations. JAÙH’s uniqueness lies in this unprecedented dialogue between artificial intelligence—used as a poetic generator of images and forms—and ancestral craftsmanship, exploring the interplay between geometric precision and calculated disruption, according to a principle of ‘1% disorder’: subtle asymmetries and controlled disruptions that challenge perception whilst preserving perfect balance. The table from their first collection was acquired by the Mobilier National in 2024.
