Trained in the arts in Brussels, where his encounter with the critic Pierre Sterckx proved decisive, he truly cut his teeth in a body shop, bending and shaping sheet metal on a daily basis. It was this experience that enabled him to master techniques and materials, and to hone his eye for the fine, undulating lines that would become his signature. In 1995, his discovery of carbon fibre opened up new horizons: he created the C06 chair, then the lightest in the world, which was immediately acquired by major international museum collections. His pieces are regularly exhibited by design galleries in Europe and the United States, and featured in auction houses. Working on limited editions from his Brussels studio, Quadens creates in close collaboration with master craftsmen, making each piece as much a testament to craftsmanship as it is to formal innovation. A welded variant of the iconic Blade, this console table reveals the traces of its manufacture as aesthetic elements in their own right: the welds, far from being concealed, become the very motif of the piece. A gesture of formal sincerity, where the process merges with the result.
