Heim + Viladrich 3SB Bench Polished aluminium One-off piece Year of creation: 2025 H50 W170 D41 cm Airport halls, waiting rooms, laundrettes: the 3SB bench draws inspiration from liminal spaces where time seems to stretch out. In these familiar places, though never quite identical, the furniture becomes part of the décor, barely noticeable, designed to offer the minimum comfort and functionality required, just enough to accompany the wait before fading from our memories. The 3SB bench pays homage to this anonymous furniture. It celebrates a form of neutrality, the absence of any remarkable physical experience. Neither comfortable nor entirely uncomfortable, it finds its balance in a middle ground. Stable without being bulky, light without really being so, functional without seeking to be fully so. Machined from solid 40 mm-thick aluminium, it nevertheless stands out for its visual presence. Its polished surface, exceptionally narrow proportions and apparent instability give it a unique character. Whilst it immediately brings to mind standardised public benches, it is precisely the deviations it introduces that highlight the inherent qualities of this type of furniture.
