Kazuhide Takahama Naeko sofa bed Metal frame, linen velvet, polyurethane foam, wood, transparent fibreglass Gavina spa edition Date of creation: 1957 H73 W225 D77 cm Condition: minor wear consistent with age and use First model produced by Gavina, recently reupholstered in linen velvet. Metal frame, polyurethane foam padding, slatted wooden base with slight give, transparent fibreglass legs. Fully reclining backrest to convert the sofa into a bed. The Naeko project was developed whilst Kazuhide Takahama was in Italy to install the Japanese pavilion at the 11th Milan Triennale in 1956–1957. On this occasion, he met Dino Gavina, with whom he began a lasting collaboration and friendship.
