Alessio Tasca (1929–2020) Centrepiece Light grey glazed stoneware Date of creation: 1970 H5.5 W44 D44 cm Born in Nove, a historic centre of Italian ceramics, Alessio Tasca occupies a unique place in the post-war revival of Italian decorative arts. A ceramist, designer and sculptor, from the 1950s onwards he developed a personal formal vocabulary in which the boundaries between utilitarian objects and sculpture were deliberately blurred. Created in the 1970s, this glazed stoneware centrepiece perfectly illustrates the artist’s exploration of organic geometry and the modulation of surfaces.
