Blown glass, solid copper

Created at the invitation of Galeria Nicoli, the Raizes vase was born.
Rooted in the fertile soil of cosmopolitan cities, Raizes reinterprets the quest for natural well-being in a fast-paced life. Sensory comfort and biophilic textures create an organic, sinuous design – an ode to the purity of materials and the delicacy of contemporary brutalism.
“Revealing an essential part of the plant, often hidden underground – or removed when cut – led me to create this vase using roots as a support,” explains Carol.
The glass is blown into a solid copper mould. Experimentation with artisans, within the traditional mass production process, gives rise to objects with a unique character. The mould and the glass become one during the blowing process, forming a single, inseparable piece.
The distortion results from the interference of the copper, which marks the glass in various ways thanks to the handcrafted weaving of the metal base. The copper base holds the glass in suspension, ensuring the piece’s stability and preserving the shape achieved through blowing.
Lightness, weight and transparency are its defining characteristics.
