Studio Lâmina (Gabriela de Laurentiis and João Mascaro) Pamonha da Pampulha Stencil on canvas (lona), foam, straps and ratchets (tiras e catracas) H60 W100 D100 cm Date of creation: 2023 Constructed from aqua-blue canvas, onto which stencils created by Lâmina are printed in green. These stencils are the result of a process of translating and transferring techniques based on the tiles (azulejos) that make up the Pampulha Modern Ensemble in Belo Horizonte. The floral tiles used can be found at the Iate Clube (Yacht Club), the Casa do Baile (Ballroom) and the Museu da Pampulha (former casino). These floral motifs are Paulo Wernek’s interpretation of the original tiles found in the Igreja da Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Lapa do Desterro in Rio de Janeiro. Lâmina The duo Lâmina consists of João Mascaro, a multimedia artist, music producer, architect and self-taught cabinetmaker, and Gabriela de Laurentiis, an artist, researcher, lecturer, PhD holder, writer and feminist.
