Rosa Cortiella Waves #2 Sculpture Chamotte clay, glazed One-off piece Date of creation: 2020 H9 L29.5 P18 cm Working at the intersection of ceramic design, sculpture and painting, Rosa Cortiella explores the expressive potential of clay through bold forms, delicate balance and a refined use of colour. This piece forms part of a limited collection of contemporary objects where sculptural form meets functional sensibility. Her work reflects a multidisciplinary background – she holds degrees in ceramics and sculpture – and a professional practice spanning more than three decades, since 1988. Rosa Cortiella: Cortiella’s creative focus centres on experimenting with materials, moving seamlessly from sculpture to product design and colour research. Much of her work has been developed for haute cuisine, producing exclusive tableware in limited editions. In addition to her design practice, she is deeply involved in education and has served as a curator at the ACC Gallery. She currently heads up R&D at MUD CERAMICS Factory, pushing the boundaries of contemporary innovation in ceramics.
