Description
Ana Illueca Studio Mediterranean Bits Wind Tabletop Green Stabile Recycled stoneware from Ana Illueca’s studio Hand-built using the slab technique Hand-decorated with a porcelain engobe, copper oxide, cobalt oxide and a yellow pigment Beechwood base and brass frame 2025 H30 W6.5 D45 cm The contradiction of the material. The terrible story of these things that we expect to become something. In this tabletop kinetic sculpture by ceramic artist Ana Illueca, ceramics become light. Mediterranean Bits Wind Tabletop transposes the immersive experience of the original installation to a more accessible, more intimate scale. Designed to remain close to the viewer and be placed at eye level, the work establishes a direct, everyday relationship with its surroundings. Its creation involves a complex compositional exercise, as the very movement of the piece alters its final appearance. What seems balanced and beautiful one moment can be completely overturned the next. Yet it is precisely this ephemeral nature that makes the work so captivating. The ceramic breaks away from its usual perception of solidity to become lighter, almost as if suspended. We have not always been what we are. Nor will we always be what we were. This work is a defence of movement against the absolute. A defence of lightness, of process, of transformation. It questions the pressure to know exactly what to be and what to do, the idea of a fixed future, the weight of predetermined goals and established forms. Unlike an installation that surrounds the viewer, this piece shares its immediate space. Its proximity makes it a recurring presence: a reminder to trust the balance between the wind — which we cannot control — and matter — which we can shape —, which will ultimately place us where we are meant to be. Exhibition: 2026. Kave Home Gallery. Group exhibition.
