Description
Philippe Starck (born 1949) Boom Rang Chair Tubular metal frame and moulded resin 1991 Produced by Driade, Italy H79 W61 D49 cm The Boom Rang chair, designed by Philippe Starck in 1991 for Driade, illustrates the designer’s exploration of the deconstruction of the traditional chair. Its design is based on a succession of taut lines and sharp angles, giving the structure a graphic silhouette reminiscent of the movement of a boomerang. Straddling the line between functional furniture and sculpture, Boom Rang belongs to Philippe Starck’s particularly experimental period at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s and bears witness to his collaboration with the Italian manufacturer Driade.
