Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) Naeko Sofa bed Metal frame, linen velvet, polyurethane foam, wood, transparent fibreglass Produced by Gavina spa Date of creation: 1957 H73 L225 D77 cm Condition: minor wear consistent with its age and use The first model produced by Gavina, recently reupholstered in linen velvet. Metal frame, polyurethane foam padding, slatted wooden base with slight give, and legs in clear fibreglass. The backrest reclines fully to convert the sofa into a bed. The Naeko project was developed whilst Kazuhide Takahama was in Italy to set up the Japanese pavilion at the 11th Milan Triennale in 1956–1957. On this occasion, he met Dino Gavina, with whom he began a lasting collaboration and friendship.
