Hanger #7
Coat hanger
Metal and reclaimed wood
H34 W41 D30 cm
One-off piece
Born out of an initial desire to encourage independent creation, the ‘Hanging with T300’ series reinvents the coat hanger, a form explored here for the first time by the designer. This collection expands the range of applications for the T300 metal connector — a component designed by Curro Claret in 2010 to facilitate the manufacture of furniture (stools, benches, tables and lamps) from reclaimed wood. Keen to test its viability, the designer first trialled the system himself by assembling materials (mainly wood) gathered from the street, subjected to minimal processing and shaped using simple techniques accessible to all.
Curro Claret (1968)
Curro Claret studied industrial design at the Elisava School in Barcelona and subsequently at Central Saint Martins in London. He began working as a freelance designer in 1998 and has since undertaken a wide variety of projects. Alongside his practice, he teaches at the Elisava School as well as at other Spanish and international institutions. His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions, has received extensive media coverage and has been recognised with several prestigious awards.
