A constant exploration of materials, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary processes define the studio’s projects, which include furniture, jewellery, interiors, lighting and much more. The studio’s work combines artisanal techniques with innovative processes for clients such as Nanimarquina, IDEË, Mobles114, Cervezas Alhambra and El Celler de Can Roca, and has been recognised with the Good Design Award (2019). “Chairs for Stargazing” is a series of chairs reimagined by Andreu Carulla, designed to encourage a new perspective on the world. Whilst they can still be used in the traditional way, these chairs invite their users to look up and focus on the sky rather than the ground. This edition, SKY, inspired by a traditional armchair used in Spanish taverns, not only reimagines the way we sit, but also covers the seat with a reflective fabric that shows you (or forces you to see) the sky. ‘We look up at the sky to stop looking at the ground. Let’s lift our heads. Let’s aim high. Let’s reshuffle the deck and rethink the future. ’ The idea took shape after a difficult post-pandemic year for Carulla. After careful consideration, the artist wanted to offer a new outlook on life and share a positive message. This gave rise to the concept of ‘keeping your chin up’ as a means of healing and overcoming difficulties. By reimagining the chair — an everyday object found in every home — the artist sought to literally lift the chin and refocus attention upwards, thereby offering a more optimistic outlook on life.
