‘I’m All Ears’ collection
Hand-thrown terracotta, glazed on the inside only
One-off piece
H28 W15 D25 cm
The “I’M ALL EARS” collection comprises bowls, vases and candleholders with a serene and understated aesthetic. These pieces are distinguished by one obvious formal feature: their handles. These are not merely for gripping; they also evoke ears, suggesting that the objects can thus ‘listen’ to their users.
The two pieces are replicas of one another: they share the same shape, the same proportions and the same functionality, but differ in their materials. One is made of turned wood and the other of turned terracotta. This approach highlights the importance of craftsmanship and manual labour, seeking to achieve perfection through the imperfection of details, in an era dominated by digital production.
Aviv Shany has applied his talents across a variety of creative fields, working for both independent and commercial organisations.
His eclectic experience has shaped an open and experimental approach. Aviv challenges the conventional boundaries between art and design, thereby creating a discipline with an anarchic feel.
