Description
Hans Vangsø (1950)
Small light pink bottle
Local stoneware and glaze
H18 Ø12.5 cm
Denmark
A small bottle fashioned from local stoneware, coated with a glaze in shades of light pink. To achieve this rich palette of colours and textures, the artist fires his ceramics in earthenware cassettes filled with seaweed gathered from the nearby beach, which provides a natural source of salts and minerals during the firing process.
Hans Vangsø (1950)
Born in 1950, Hans Vangsø is an internationally renowned Danish ceramicist. A pupil of the master Saxbo and deeply influenced by the Japanese ceramic tradition (particularly the Bizen style), he favours the use of raw materials and wood-firing or reduction-firing processes, creating pieces with complex and vibrant surfaces.
