In excellent original vintage condition. The glass vase is beautifully preserved, whilst the stool shows some signs of wear consistent with its age.
A rare, sculptural vase stand accompanied by a signed cobalt-blue glass vase, designed by the Czech architect and designer Bořek Šípek.
The tall, architectural structure is constructed from slender wooden uprights and contrasting dark circular surfaces. Its top and middle shelves are perforated to accommodate the slender vase, allowing the glass form to pass vertically through the structure. Rather than simply supporting the vase, the stand becomes an integral part of the composition.
The vividly coloured vase features a long, tapered body and a flared neck. Suspended at the heart of the open structure, its translucent cobalt-blue glass creates a striking contrast with the warm wood and dark surfaces. The result lies somewhere between a piece of furniture, a sculpture and functional glass art — a characteristic expression of Šípek’s poetic creative language.
Bořek Šípek (1949–2016) was a Czech architect, furniture designer and master glassmaker renowned for his expressive and often neo-baroque work. After founding his studio in Amsterdam in 1983, he collaborated with major manufacturers such as Driade and Vitra. From 1992, he served as architect to Prague Castle under President Václav Havel.
The glass vase is signed by Bořek Šípek.
A highly decorative and unusual ensemble in which Šípek’s furniture design and glass art merge into a single sculptural object.
