Both original glass tops are present and in very good condition. A highly decorative and unusual table in which Šípek combines furniture, ornamentation and architectural construction into a single sculptural composition. A rare Prieda table, designed by the Czech architect and designer Bořek Šípek for the Belgian manufacturer Scarabas, circa 1990. The sculptural tripod structure combines tapered mahogany legs with polished aluminium fittings and two circular glass tops. Three small round wooden platforms are integrated into the structure. Each can pivot independently and be positioned as required, lending the table a playful and adaptable character. The wooden platforms are adorned with exquisitely fine pewter inlays depicting delicate flowering branches. Fine engraved details at the heart of the flowers and foliage enhance their almost jeweller-like appearance. These Asian-inspired motifs create an elegant contrast with the warm grain of the mahogany. The smaller lower glass shelf is decorated with three distinctive blue glass details. The interplay between the transparent glass, the warm wood, the polished metal and the intricate ornamentation lends the table its vibrant architectural character. Functional elements become decorative gestures — an essential feature of Šípek’s poetic and neo-baroque creative language. Bořek Šípek (1949–2016) was a Czech architect, furniture designer and master glassmaker renowned for his expressive and often fantastical work. After founding his studio in Amsterdam in 1983, he collaborated with major manufacturers such as Driade, Vitra and Scarabas. From 1992, he served as architect to Prague Castle under President Václav Havel.
