Nico Guevara Daybed Bench Oiled walnut, ikat cotton, linen, vegetable-tanned leather, brass and foam Signed by the artist H75 W180 D45 cm Nico Guevara studied industrial design at the Massana School in Barcelona, and it was in that city that he began his career. For several years, he was part of the design team at the footwear brand Lottusse, before working as a freelancer between Palma and Barcelona, developing product design projects whilst also teaching. This bench is the result of a collaboration between the Mallorcan textile manufacturer Teixits Riera and the Nico Guevara studio. Both, based in Mallorca, are committed to combining tradition and craftsmanship in a product with a Mediterranean essence. From the outset, the idea was to design a piece of furniture reflecting the island’s rural simplicity, using natural materials such as wood, fabric and leather. The simplicity of the structure highlights the craftsmanship of the fabric. The link between the walnut frame and the upholstery is a leather strap that holds everything together and lends character to the piece. This also keeps the cushion in place, creating a subtle balance between the elements. New, but shows some signs of wear.
