Roger Coll (born 1979) Happy Collapse Sculpture High-fire ceramic (1250°C), glaze H27 L16 D21 cm During his residency at the International Ceramics Studio in Hungary, Roger Coll had the opportunity to experiment with tools, processes, techniques and clays that he did not usually use. It was there that Happy Collapse was created, a clear reference to architecture and to Roger Coll’s past as a technical architect. A metaphor for the feeling that everything could collapse, much like the collapse of a building. A sense of instability, whilst conveying a deep sense of optimism through colour and finish. Roger Coll belongs to this new generation of artists who are rethinking ceramics without reservation and who place themselves outside traditional categories. Originally from Badalona (Barcelona), he now lives and works in Vic. He studied technical architecture at the ETSA, at La Salle University in Barcelona, sculpture at the EASD Llotja in Barcelona, and ceramics at the Forma School in Barcelona, the EASD Pau Gargallo and the EASD Vic.
