Description
Sergio Borrini (born 1942)
Rare square mirror with cloud motif
Mirrored glass with screen-printed decoration
Signed ‘Sergio Borrini’ on the front and bearing the Rimadesio mark.
Italy, 1980s
H99 W99 cm
In very good original vintage condition, showing only slight signs of age and wear.
A striking and highly decorative mirror designed by Sergio Borrini for the Italian manufacturer Rimadesio. The square composition combines a large reflective surface with Borrini’s characteristic cobalt-blue cloud motif, enhanced by delicate ribbon-shaped graphic details.
Similar mirrors by Borrini are known as the Ryan and Nuvola models, usually produced in large rectangular formats. No comparable square example measuring 99 × 99 cm has been recorded, suggesting that this may be a particularly rare variation or a special commission.
Sergio Borrini (born 1942) is an Italian artist and designer whose work moves freely between painting, set design and the applied arts. His poetic visual language often incorporates dreamlike imagery, irony and elements drawn from fairy tales and theatre.
A rare and poetic piece of Italian design that works just as well as a mirror as it does as a striking wall hanging.
