FRENCH WORK Floor lamp France, c. 1951 H 147 D (to the floor) 51 cm Condition as shown in the photographs. Signs of wear, minor chips and oxidation of the lacquer, all contributing to the overall patina. Sold without a lampshade. A rare floor lamp with an openwork structure in white-lacquered tubular metal, comprising a series of slender, curved rods forming an elegant, tapered shape. The upper section flares out like a corolla around the socket holder, whilst the base extends into radiating curved rods forming the foot. The construction, both graphic and sculptural, reflects the formal explorations of French design in the post-war period and the early 1950s.
