Eliakim Shpigel for Seguso Vetri d’Arte (1954–1991) Large Bowl EL 4 Blown glass treated using the ‘a scavo’ technique Circa 1986 H50 W29 D19 cm In excellent original condition. Eliakim Shpigel, known as Eliakim, made a name for himself in the 1980s as one of the leading designers of hand-painted fabrics. He worked notably for Christian Lacroix, Pierre Cardin, Dior and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Alongside this work, he created a tableware set for the Gien porcelain factory, as well as a series of four pieces for the highly renowned Murano glassmaker Seguso Vetri d’Arte. This bowl, reference EL4, is the result of this collaboration. A version of this design can be seen in Marco de Gueltzl’s home, as captured in a photograph by Roland Beaufre.
