Josep Vila Capdevila Vestiges side Side table Sierra grey marble Aparentment edition Date of creation: 2019 W45 H43 D47 cm 16 kg The Vestiges side table: a quintessentially brutalist piece. Finished by hand – by chipping the edges with a hammer and chisel, brushing the stone to achieve a velvety texture, and applying a coating to protect the stone and give it a satiny, textured finish – each piece is thus unique and cannot be replicated. It is crafted from an exclusive marble from southern Spain, deliberately chosen for its resemblance to a pebble or a stone dolmen. JOSEP VILA CAPDEVILA Founder and lead designer at Aparentment, he graduated in Industrial Design from Elisava University in 2001. He went on to pursue postgraduate studies in Photography at Elisava, as well as in 3D Design Engineering at the UPC. His wide-ranging interests have led him to work in advertising, fashion, photojournalism and even music. In addition to his work at Aparentment, he has taught Industrial Design at the Terrassa School of Art and Design and won a bronze LUX award for ‘Best Advertising Photography’.
