Coffee table with sculptural base
Patinated bronze, glass
Inscription ‘Michaël No. 32’ engraved on the base
Top: D107 P1.2 cm
Base only: H34.5 L70 P46 cm
Bronze with a variegated patina, visible scratches and scuff marks
Coffee table comprising a circular top in clear glass resting on a base
of solid patinated bronze. The base unfolds into curved, openwork branches,
whose tapered ends evoke organic forms. The surfaces with
golden highlights alternate with darker areas, emphasising the relief of this
sculptural composition.
The transparency of the top allows the design of the base to be appreciated from different angles,
giving the piece the presence of a functional sculpture
A French sculptor born in Caen, Fred Brouard trained at the Beaux-Arts in Rouen and then in Paris
under Henri-Georges Adam. He worked notably with Alicia Penalba before
developing his own body of work combining bronze sculpture and furniture. His tables
reflect this fusion of artistic exploration and domestic use.
